    • Abstract:
Different learned figures, including Sébastien Leclerc himself, are gathering around a table in a vast room filled of ingenious instruments related to mathematics and physics. This is one of two drawings preceding an unfinished ungraving kept in the BNF, Paris. The image has been interpreted either as showing the collections of the Académie des Sciences after its move from the Louvre in 1699, or as an idealised view of Leclerc's own cabinet and ingenious, scientific aspirations.
