This article presents a segment of a doctoral thesis linked to the Graduate Pro-gram in Education at the State University of Santa Catarina (PPGE/UDESC). The objective of the research was to analyze the development of digital competencies through a continuing education course offered to basic education teachers in Florianópolis. The course used Digital Storytelling as a didactic strategy and was developed based on international digital competency standards, such as DigComp and DigCompEdu, and aligned with national guidelines, such as BNCC and BNC Formação. The course was also designed to meet the needs of teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping them use digital platforms and resources to engage students. It is understood that this type of continuing education is suitable for improving pedagogical practices in an increasingly digital environment. The research is characterized as a case study, with a mixed approach, incorporating elements of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The results indicated that the course had a positive impact on teachers' acquisition of digital competencies, in addition to promoting collaboration and reflection on their teaching practices. The potential of the course as a strategy for the didactic use of digital technologies was evident. Finally, it was found that an important condition is to provide teachers with opportunities to experiment and critically reflect on the educational value of digital technologies through practical activities in collaboration with their peers. ; O presente artigo apresenta um recorte de uma tese de doutorado vinculada ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (PPGE/UDESC).
