Abstract: This work will address the importance of the classroom library in the school environment. Initially, emphasis will be placed on the origin of libraries and the Colombian legislation related to the subject. Then, the parameters for their formation will be established, as well as the typology of the texts that must be kept as a guide for five-year-old children boys and girls. The characteristics of the most important children's literary genres will also be taken into account when working in class with students. Finally, a didactic proposal will be made, it will have a guide for creating a library in the classroom with a variety of strategies to obtain books, both physically and virtually, considering the latter one as a necessary pedagogical instrument. First, due to the fact of having students who are digital natives and also because many institutions have electronic means where their application is promoted. Secondly, to provide more available material at no cost. Finally, to provide more access to resources when they lack or are insufficient.
