Serviço Social e a Igreja Católica: uma análise da influência do catolicismo na emergência da Escola de Serviço Social em Pernambuco.

Este trabalho tem como tema o Serviço Social e a Igreja Católica: uma análise da influência do catolicismo na emergência da Escola de Serviço Social em Pernambuco. O principal objetivo da pesquisa foi compreender a influência do catolicismo, partindo de uma breve análise histórica até o surgimento das primeiras Escolas de Serviço Social no mundo e na América Latina, onde referencia-se a Escola de Serviço Social em Pernambuco. A metodologia desta pesquisa foi de cunho tanto bibliográfico com os estudos de Iamamoto e Carvalho; Castro e Montaño quanto documental com as análises dos documentos episcopais e recortes de jornais referente a Escola de Serviço Social em Pernambuco. Conclui-se que a religião, em especial o catolicismo, desempenharam um papel importante sendo essencial tanto na construção quanto na institucionalização do Serviço Social. Por isso, este estudo contribui para a compreensão dos fundamentos profissionais, vinculados, inicialmente, à prática religiosa. ; This paper has as its theme Social Service and the Catholic Church: an analysis of the influence of Catholicism on the emergence of the School of Social Service in Pernambuco. The main objective of the research was to understand the influence of Catholicism, starting from a brief historical analysis until the emergence of the first Schools of Social Service in the world and in Latin America, where the School of Social Service in Pernambuco is referenced. The methodology of this research was both bibliographical with the studies of Iamamoto and Carvalho; Castro and Montaño and documentary with the analysis of episcopal documents and newspaper clippings related to the School of Social Service in Pernambuco. It is concluded that religion, especially Catholicism, played an important role and was essential both in the construction and institutionalization of Social Service. Therefore, this study contributes to the understanding of the professional foundations, initially linked to religious practice.
