The interrogative construction with li particle in Russian and its translation into Portuguese in Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment ; A construção interrogativa com li em russo e sua tradução para o português na obra Crime e Castigo de Dostoiévski

This paper analyses the behaviour of interrogative constructions containing"li" considering Crime and Punishment novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky and its Portuguesetranslation by Rubens Figueiredo, published by Todavia. Given the lack of a directequivalent for "li" in the target language, the work considers the translator's decision-making to encode the meanings expressed by the interrogative sentence with li. As atheoretical framework, the paper is based in studies of li interrogative sentences andtheir relation to information structure, proposed by Comrie (1982), King (1995), andLeite de Oliveira (2022), to determine the type of focus in sentences with "li". Inaddition, studies by Levinson (1983) and Searle (1976) were used to determine speechacts evoked by this kind of construction. The main aspects observed are the grammaticalfeatures of this construction, the translation process, and the meaning effects expressedin Russian and Portuguese. Based on the original and translation, it was found that theeffects of meaning produced remained similar between the two, even though Portugueseuses a set of varied strategies to encode the meanings evoked by the construction with li. ; Este trabalho analisa comportamento das construções interrogativas com apartícula li, considerando o romance Crime e Castigo de Fiódor Dostoiévski e a suatradução para o português, realizada por Rubens Figueiredo e publicada pela editoraTodavia.
