      Our current educational system is found immersed in the search of new methodologies that could respond to our needs in the classroom. These needs are mostly the lack of motivation, disinterest, and the lack of involvement from students towards the learning process. The intention is to tackle these issues that are damaging their education with the use of active and innovative methodologies that have been developing in recent times. The aim of this master’s dissertation is to design an intervention proposal based on the principles of gamification, an active methodology that has gained wide popularity amongst teachers. This proposal is aimed for students of 1st Year in Secondary School in the subject of Social Sciences, to work on the topic of Roman civilization. Also, this proposal includes various suggestions on videogames related to Geography and History as these can be useful resources. Through the implementation of gamification, we want to respond to the referred needs by improving students’ motivation, interest, and academic performance. The didactic unit “Become the Emperor of Rome” uses characteristic elements from gamification to present the contents as a game. With the activities and the challenges, students will need to achieve the final goal: to become the Cesar of Rome. ; El sistema educativo contemporáneo se halla inmerso en la búsqueda de nuevas metodologías que puedan dar respuesta a las necesidades de las aulas actuales. Estas necesidades no son otras que la desmotivación, el desinterés y la falta de implicación por parte del alumnado frente al proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. A partir de una serie de metodologías activas e innovadoras desarrolladas en los últimos tiempos, se pretende dar respuesta a todos estos males que afligen la educación.
