      Turkish-American relations have been part of Turkey's Westernization effort, and been built on political and economic interests and expectations. Turkey sees USA as a country whose support and protection it can rely on. This perspective represents the hegemonic structure of Turkish- American relations, which this study tries to examine by looking at theories on international relations and media. The main thesis of this study is that the relations between two countries are constructed on an inequal basis, and shaped by the demands of the USA from, and the roles it assigns to Turkey in return of economic, militaristic and political interests, even though they do not always meet the expectationsof Turkey. After the Second World War, the USA has started to implement its policies of being the the only dominant power of world politics, and after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990s it has become the only hegemonic power. The attacks on September 11th has given the USA the opportunity of using military power to increase its global hegemony. The USA has told the wold that it can attack countries under the name of " preemptive strike" and within the framework of "the war with terror" when it is necessary. The study deals with the concept of hegemony in terms of economic, political and cultural aspects, within this framework it gives special attention to the hegemony of the USA over the cultural production, and particularly over the production and the diseemination of the media products. To show the USA's dominant position in the information flow, the news frames on Turkish and American mainstream newspapers about the USA's interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq were compared. The comparison demonstrates that the descriptions about both events and the news frames on the newspapers chosen for the analysis overlap. The Turkish newspapers, Sabah and Hürriyet mainly depend on the American news agencies and media for their news despite the fact that they both had their own correspondents in that regions. ...
