    • Abstract:
This presentation explores the ontological dimensions of blockchain initiatives creating an overview of the domains that are covered by blockchain projects and those that are not, in order avoid pointless blockchain projects and identify under- and unexplored application domains. These ontological dimensions include the application domains, technological innovations, promises and challenges and their semantic coverage in both a myopic and a hyperopic perspective. The myopic perspective looks at blockchain initiatives as organizations, where the hyperopic perspective looks at these initiatives as tools for organizations. Additionally, the presentation used example of the REA to showcase an ontology’s potential as both a computation independent model in a model-driven engineering approach for blockchain projects, and as a foundation for a classification canvas for blockchain initiatives.
