Abstract: n accordance with the current conceptions, the development is described as a multidimensional agenda that seeks to have a positive impact on the quality of life of the world's societies; nevertheless, defining and understanding what development means for the Salvadoran society is a highly complex process, due to the polysemic sense of the concept by itself and the particular evolution of this society. Therefore, this research aims to identify those factors that influence the development of El Salvador, providing a general comprehension of the challenges and opportunities faced by the country in the process of construction and appropriation of an endogenous vision of development. In this regard, to provide an answer to the purpose of the article, it has been selected the deep forces as a starting point for the research process, recognizing the Eurocentric conceptual tendency of these categories, so that the approach is aided by other multidisciplinary approaches for an integral and holistic understanding of the development process for the country.
