      Research aim – to appreciate patient’s post-operative nursing needs after hip joint arthroplasty. Research objectives: 1. To analyse the scientific information sources on hip joint injuries, arthroplasty and postoperative nursing needs. 2. To identify patients physiological nursing needs after hip joint arthroplasty. 3. To find out patients psycho-social nursing needs after hip joint arthroplasty. 4. To compare patients nursing problems in the early and late postoperative periods of hip joint arthroplasty. Research methods: 1. Analysis of scientific information sources. 2. Qualitative research (semi-structured interview, observation). 3. Descriptive analysis of qualitative content. 4. Comparative analysis of content. Description of the research scope. The respondents were chosen through the application of the targeted selection method. The main selection criteria - a person second and sixth or seventh day after hip joint arthroplasty, who can communicate. 5 people participated in the research. Conclusions: 1. Hip joint replacement is one of the most common surgeries. During surgery damaged joint is replaced with artificial surfaces. The most common indications for hip joint replacement are osteoarthritis and other joint diseases, which affect joint’s surfaces. The main nursing problems after hip joint replacement are pain, limited movement, subfebrile temperature, poor sleep quality, retention of urine, obstipation, lack of self-care and knowledge, varied employment and attitude to themselves. 2. Based on the patients statements physiological nursing needs were identified: observation and evaluation of vital functions of the body, management of the pain, rehabilitation of movement, individual care of nursing needs, like personal hygiene, elimination and sleep. 3. During the research psycho-social nursing needs were found out: receiving information about postoperative period, communication and cooperation with nursing staff and relatives, recommendations about supporting safety and leisure. 4.
