Abstract: PROFESSIONAL TRAINING IN COLOMBIA: CHARACTERIZATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN PSYCHOLOGY Introduction: University autonomy in Colombia generates a great diversity in the offer, which the State regulates through quality assurance mechanisms. Our objective is to characterize the higher education programs of Psychology that are currently offered as active within the country. Methodology: This descriptive study had as a research technique the closed categorization, with a final sample of 132 programs taken from the official source of the National Information System of Higher Education (SNIES), analyzed by descriptive and graphic statistical analysis techniques. Results: In general, the offer of programs comes from private universities, whose final degree is Psychologist. These programs are offered in modalities (face-to-face, distance, virtual), periodicities, cost and diverse geographical location. Conclusion: Unlike other formations, psychology programs have greater accessibility, diversity of offer through modalities and costs, maintaining basic and superior quality conditions in more than a third of the offer, a result of sixty-six years of history, which may be affected by situations related to the purchasing power of its population. ; Introducción: La AutonomÃa universitaria en Colombia genera una gran diversidad en la oferta, que el Estado regula a través de mecanismos de aseguramiento de la calidad.
