Abstract: The goal of reproducible research and open science training is to change practices within the research community; yet, many course participants encounter difficulties in implementing what they've learned when they return to their research group. This talk explores strategies for designing hands-on courses where students implement reproducible research and open science practices in their own research, during the course. Participants have dedicated time to work on implementation, with the support of classmates and trained instructors who can help them to navigate early barriers and avoid common mistakes.
