    • Abstract:
      This document contains the information necessary to evaluate from the commercial, operational and financial point of view, the start up of a company dedicated to producing and marketing a sunscreen made with natural products from the eastern part of the country, as is the case of the guayusa. Based on the information analyzed in the project environment, there is an opportunity in the social factor, because there is a need in people sensitive to sunlight to cover their skin from the effects of ultraviolet rays, especially in the city from Quito, which has climatic conditions associated with height and geographical position in the middle of the world, where the sun's rays have greater strength. The differentiation of the product is constituted by the use of this natural raw material, which has soothing properties for the skin and avoids the damage it suffers during exposure to ultraviolet rays. A highlight of the companys strategy is the generation of a fair trade certification with the producers of guayusa, through cooperation programs and technical assistance. The name selected for sunscreen is GuayusaCare, which reflects the condition of its main input and the property offered by the skin care product. The distribution channel chosen is supermarket chains and pharmacies, in this way they are supplied with the protector according to the requirement obtained in the target market. The initial investment to start up the company has a value of 122,610 dollars, according to the financing structure, the partners contribute 85,827 dollars and the request for a bank loan for 36,873 dollars covers the remaining balance. Regarding the calculation of the valuation criterion, a net present value of 19,486 dollars is obtained in the investors flow, this allows the initial investment to be recovered within 3.19 years, with respect to the internal rate of return obtains 24.61 percent, which is a percent age higher than the discount rate of 15.02 percent.
