Una de esas estrategias, vigente hoy en día más que nunca y con una muy interesante promesa de seguir creciendo, es la estrategia de liderazgo en costos, la cual permite a la empresa ser más competitiva con un producto de igual calidad, haciendo énfasis en la reducción de los costos que representa dicho producto. Es objeto de este ensayo, determinar cuál es el aporte más representativo que pueden hacer los procesos de almacenamiento y transporte al cumplimiento de dicha estrategia aplicada en una empresa del sector industrial en Colombia, consolidando al final propuestas concretas que permitirán a cualquier líder de operaciones saber dónde puede ahorrar costos sin que afecte la calidad del producto. La metodología aplicada es un ensayo de profundización, donde se abordará inicialmente en su estado del arte una breve reseña del sector industrial en Colombia, luego se tratará el concepto de Logística y su evolución a través de los años, posteriormente abordará el concepto de cadena de suministros y el paso del concepto de Logística hasta este. Luego de cadena de suministros se hablará de un global más potente que es cadena de valor, seguido del concepto de estrategia, y más específicamente estrategia de liderazgo en costos. Posterior a esto se podrán juntar ambos conceptos hablando de la estrategia de la cadena de suministros. One of these strategies, today more than ever and with a very interesting promise to continue growing, is the strategy of cost leadership, which allows the company to be more competitive with a product of equal quality, focusing the reduction of the costs that this product represents. The purpose of this essay is to determine the most representative contribution that storage and transport processes can make to complying with this strategy applied to a company of the industrial sector in Colombia, consolidating at the end concrete proposals that will allow any operations leader to know where they can save costs without affecting quality of the product. The applied methodology is an academic essay where a little overview of the industrial sector in Colombia will be initially addressed in its state of the art, then the concept of Logistics and its evolution through the years, later on it will approach the concept of supply chain and the transition from the concept of Logistics to this. Then supply chain will talk about value chain, followed by the concept of strategy, and more specifically strategy of cost leadership. Later we’ll talk about how can be combined both concepts: the strategy of the supply chain. Finally, we will define the logistic processes that contribute to the fulfillment of this strategy, specifically speaking Storage and transportation, through concrete proposals in each of these processes.
