Abstract: Este artigo trata de uma produção de final do século XX, escrita por uma poeta maranhense. Trata-se de Litania da velha, de Arlete Nogueira da Cruz. Por sua vez, objetiva discutir sobre aspectos de sua produção e a importância da poesia escrita por Arlete Nogueira, para a construção de uma literatura mais que maranhense. Assim, verifica-se que Artele inscreve nas Letras nacionais uma obra de grande valor, não apenas estilístico, metafórico, artístico, mas também histórico e representativo. O poema representa parte da história da velha cidade de São Luís, assim como indica uma preocupação com o patrimônio histórico nacional, com a história e a vida do povo brasileiro. A poesia maranhense, assim como outrora, se expande para além do território em que nasce e expande horizontes, escancarando nossas raízes, nosso povo e a beleza da palavra que brota de cada canto de nossa imensa nação. ; This article deals with a late 20th century production written by a Maranhão poet. This is Litany of the old woman, Arlete Nogueira da Cruz. In turn, it aims to discuss about aspects of its production and the importance of poetry written by Arlete Nogueira, for the construction of a literature more than Maranhão. Thus, it is verified that Artele inscribes in the national literature a work of great value, not only stylistic, metaphorical, artistic, but also historical andrepresentative. The poem represents part of the history of the old city of São Luís, as well as indicates a concern with the national historical heritage, the history and life of the Brazilian people. Maranhão poetry, as it once once expands beyond the territory in which horizons are born and expands, scramuing our roots, our people and the beauty of the word that springs from every corner of our immense nation.
