    • Abstract:
; Current anatomy teaching strategies at universities are limited to lectures and anatomy lab activities. With the advent of new technologies came new teaching alternatives that may help and even replace some of the traditional teaching methods in anatomy. Thus, this work aimed to investigate the current scenario of using virtual reality and augmented reality tools in teaching anatomy for courses in the health area, emphasizing their potentialities and limitations. A review of the literature was carried out, following the methodology of the integrative review, we highlight ten studies published between June 2017 and June 2022 that employed virtual reality and augmented reality strategies in anatomy teaching, found by a search in the Pubmed database, using “Anatomy”, “Digital Anatomy”, “Virtual Reality”, “Augmented Reality”, “Teaching” and “Education” as search terms. We conclude that virtual reality and augmented reality have promising value for anatomy teaching, in addition to the possibility of reducing costs in the long term, compared to the demands of traditional teaching in universities.
