Practices of Primary School Teachers in the Preparation of Teaching Materials ; Praktikat e mësimdhënësve të arsimit fillor në përgatitjen e materialeve mësimore

This research report contains data related to the preparation of teaching materials in the classroom to support instruction. The first part of the report includes a theoretical analysis of official documentation such as laws, basic curriculum, subject curricula, and studies by various authors regarding the role and importance of teaching materials in the instructional process. In the second part, we present the perceptions of elementary school students and teachers, their opinions on the preparation of teaching materials to support teaching and learning. The study aims to present the practices of teachers in preparing teaching materials, their opportunities and challenges, and to identify the level of student involvement in the preparation of teaching materials. To conduct this study, it was necessary to develop a questionnaire to gather data from serving teachers. The participants in the study are 380 elementary school teachers. For data collection from students, we conducted interviews with 17 students, and to record the interview data, we created a specific instrument, a table containing information related to the research purpose. The results of the research provide data on the opportunities, challenges, and practices of teachers for developing teaching materials and involving students in their creation. The findings of the study indicate that teachers do not have sufficient conditions for preparing teaching materials. Although teachers prepare teaching materials for use in class with students, the involvement of students in the preparation of materials is very limited. Both students and teachers prepare teaching materials at home. Students prepare materials such as illustrations, various figures, presentations as part of homework, utilizing their budget and family assistance for their preparation.
