The concept of popular culture and cultural studies

Cultural studies as interdisciplinary theory and practice last for half century. Cultural studies researchers analyze different aspects of contemporary culture. They try to describe culture as text. In this sense, it is possible to determine how cultural texts are being activated within lived cultures. Therefore, cultural studies incorporate broad variety of cultural topics and issues. Cultural studies researchers combine approaches respecting intention to find the best way and appropriate focus for cultural analyses. The most important result of this research tradition is detection of political meanings of popular culture. They made evidence of popular culture as arena of conflicts and struggles. The point is trying to analyze what the dominant and marginal discourses are, and how popular culture texts can represent different themes.
