Political science and netnography: An alternative for online research in higher education ; Politología y netnografía: Una alternativa para la investigación online en la educación superior

The introduction of technologies that bring the classroom into the home and the implementation of new educational models are complex and do not depend on the choice of a program, but on a large number of factors that bring about change. The ease of access to all kinds of information through the web has generated those students, teachers and researcher in higher education (political science area) are attracted by new technologies. This leads to the need to introduce methodological options to account for emerging, complex and multiple phenomena in Ecuadorian higher education institutions. Thus, the objective of the study was to describe netnography as an alternative to enhance the development of online research related to political science in higher education in Ecuador. Thus, the objective of the study was to describe netnography as an alternative to enhance the development of online research related to political science in higher education in Ecuador. A descriptive research with documentary bibliography design was chosen. The instrument applied was the content analysis matrix. A theoretical sample of 25 scientific articles was used. The results show the potential of the netnographic method due to its methodological qualities of flexibility, adaptability, descriptive power and, especially, its multi-method nature. It is concluded that a wide range of opportunities opens up for online research in higher education in the area of political science, since it is presented as an effective method to promote the understanding of the cultural signals of covert and unrepresentative social spheres, but which find in virtuality a fertile space to provide natural information for their development and manifestation. ; La introducción de las tecnologías que llevan el aula a los hogares y la implementación de nuevos modelos educativos implica cierta dificultad y no está supedita a la selección de un programa, sino a la multiplicidad de elementos generadores de transformaciones.
