Abstract: This master‘s thesis analyzes the concept of the purpose of mediation, reveals the specifics and problems of practical application of this alternative dispute resolution method: analyze aspects of understanding the concept of mediation goals in society, the importance of informing and using mediation. The significance of the mediator in the background of the application of mediation goals is assessed through the prism of competencies and qualifications. The master's thesis also examines the implementation of the mediation procedure through the application of mediation objectives in the legal acts of the Lithuania, the problems of application of this instrument and provides suggestions for the improvement of the procedure.
