Saluting the Feminists. The world premi?re of Siobh?n Cleary?s opera, Vampirella, affords the Royal Irish Academy of Music an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of some of its female pedagogues and also salute female composers from Ireland. On March 24th the Academy proudly presents a series of fringe events comprising concerts, talks and panel discussions to highlight the extraordinary impact women composers, performers and teachers have had, and continue to have, in Ireland. The day-long celebration culminates in a performance of Cleary?s powerful new opera, written specifically for the talented singers and instrumentalists of the RIAM and funded by an Arts Council Project Award.
