      This paper examines the reforms initiated by the marquis of Ensenada in the accounting of Spanish Indies. To reconstruct the finalities adscribed to the reforms and to describe their forms, we analize the comments of the people involved in the reforming process. The plan of Ensenada and his collaborators for the American accounting is inseparable from his reorganization of the “vía reservada”, which tends to transform the Secretary of the Indies in a Finance Minister of Indies. It is also part of an overview of what should be the accounting in the whole Spanish monarchy. Indeed, some analogies between the projects for American realms and for Spain can be observed. These similarities concern both the nature of the requested accounting information and its uses, as the institutional framework promoted by the Minister. Although Ensenada does not intend to give up the traditional method of bookkeeping (“cargo y data”), the changes initiated in the modalities of accountings, the circulation of accounting information and the forms of administrative papers are significant. They arouse political conflicts, raising the resistance of the affected groups. ; El texto estudia las reformas iniciadas por el Marqués de Ensenada en el control contable de las Indias. Se basa en los comentarios de los actores, favorables u hostiles, para reconstruir las finalidades asignadas a los cambios y describir sus modalidades. El proyecto de Ensenada y sus colaboradores para el control de las cuentas americanas es inseparable de su reorganización de la vía reservada, que tiende a transformar al Secretario de Indias en un Ministro de Hacienda de Indias. Asimismo, se inscribe en una visión de conjunto de lo que debe ser el control en el conjunto de la monarquía española, descubriéndose analogías entre lo proyectado para los territorios indianos y los peninsulares.
