Abstract: Pancaragam is a local music that still exists and is developing inPadang City, West Sumatra Province. Pancaragam music is now a means of entertainment at various events in the city of Padang, such as maarak anak daro, babao, and anak banana. Using qualitative methods, this research aims to collect descriptive data consisting of literature study, observation, interviews and documentation. The aim of this research is to determine the form and function of pancaragam music in bridal processions in Padang City, West Sumatra Province.The theory used is the theory of form from A.A Djaelantik and the theory of functions from Allan P Merriam. This paper consists of four chapters. Chapter I is an introductory chapter. Chapter II. It is the ethnography of the people of Jati Village, East Padang District, Padang City, West Sumatra. chapter III. In this chapter, the author describes the form and function of pancaragam music in Jati Village. Chapter IV. This chapter contains conclusions and suggestions. The results of this study indicate that pancaragam music already has a structured form and functions as a medium for community entertainment in the wedding procession, besides that pancaragam music is also used as a medium for hospitality in establishing kinship relationships between family, friends, relatives and fellow communities.
