Abstract: After a period of rivalry and cooperation, the Brazil-Argentina relationship experienced a remarkable improvement between the governments of Ernesto Geisel (1974–1979) and João Figueiredo (1979–1985). We analyze one of the aspects that caused this improvement: the impact of images and perceptions of Argentina carried by Brazilian foreign ministers Antônio Azeredo da Silveira and Ramiro Saraiva Guerreiro.
