Infraestructura de transporte vial : un factor de atraso para la competitividad de Colombia en la Alianza Pacífico

Colombia no tiene los mejores indicadores para considerarse altamente competitivo, posicionándose en puestos lejanos del primer lugar en el Índice de Competitividad Global calculado por el Foro Económico Mundial; sin embargo, en los últimos años se ha visto el interés del país por superar tal situación. La infraestructura de transporte vial es un factor determinante en la competitividad, aunque su desarrollo en el país no ha sido el mejor, ya que no se cuenta con suficientes vías en condiciones adecuadas, además de los elevados costos de transporte que genera está situación. Este trabajo, analiza la influencia de la infraestructura de transporte vial sobre la competitividad de Colombia, dentro de la Alianza Pacífico. Para ello, se utilizó una variación del modelo gravitacional del comercio, que consiste en identificar la relación entre la infraestructura de transporte vial, en donde la variable distancia se reemplazó por los kilómetros de vías pavimentados y costos de transporte frente al intercambio comercial, con el fin de identificar el comportamiento de la competitividad del país. Con los resultados obtenidos se formulan una serie de recomendaciones de política económica, con la intención de incrementar la competitividad del país mediante el mejoramiento de la infraestructura de transporte vial ; Colombia does not have the best indicators to consider itself highly competitive, positioning itself in distant places of the first place in the Global Competitiveness Index calculated by the World Economic Forum; However, in recent years has seen the interest of the country to overcome such situation. This paper analyzes the influence of road transport infrastructure on the competitiveness of Colombia, within the Pacific Alliance. To do this, a variation of the gravitational model of trade was used, which consists in identifying the relationship between the road transport infrastructure, where the variable distance was replaced by the kilometers of paved roads and transport costs in front of the commercial exchange, with the Order to identify the competitiveness behavior of the country.
