Abstract: PURPOSE: The article aims to identify changes in the determinants of rural development in the Greater Poland Voivodeship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. ; DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: The study's geographical scope encompasses the Greater Poland Voivodeship, focusing on rural and semi-urban municipalities. Out of all rural and semi-urban municipalities in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, the study was conducted on a sample of 40 municipalities, selected using a stratified sampling method with randomization. ; FINDINGS: In the opinion of the respondents, the observed increase in the attractiveness of living in rural areas, valuing the natural environment by rural residents and we observe the weakening of local communities in a pandemic situation. ; PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The obtained research results are also valuable material for all other people and institutions (politicians, public authorities at various levels, entrepreneurs, representatives of the scientific community) interested in the issues of rural development and additional conditions caused by COVID-19. ; ORIGINALITY/VALUE: The research presents unique data collected during interviews with local authorities. This made it possible to truly assess the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on selected development factors.
