The article discusses the methodological and epistemological relations between the theory on cultural heritage and urban central areas, notably on the question of intervention and preservation of these areas. Para aprofundar as questões levantadas, apresenta-se a centralidade de Belo Horizonte e seus mecanismos de proteção como estudo de caso.
