    • Abstract:
The paper is based on knowledge of the developmental context of that part of Slovak literature for children and young people that portrays the theme and problem of death. We will move along the literary-historical axis to emphasize that, in contemporary Slovak literature, the theme or problem of death is portrayed only to a limited extent, despite the selected theme being part of a rich literary tradition. The need to address the existential crises of younger recipients through children's literature is currently intensifying. Today, but even more significantly in the future, this problem can be mitigated through (modern) translated literature for children, and therefore, we will outline its typology. We believe that it can inspire not only the potential child recipient but also translators. Literary and broader cultural awareness among younger recipients can be enhanced and revitalized through exposure to the world's translated literature. The translator must be familiar with the literary tradition of the receiving country and follow it sensitively.
