      Advanced homecare, district nurses experiences, palliative care, quality of life,Advanced homecare is an arranged specialized medical service doing nursing round-the-clock. The care is preformed in cooperation with a multi-professional team formed of different professions. Advanced home care is mostly palliative care. The purpose is to give the patient better quality of life and anticipate, survey and palliate symptoms. The aim of this study was to describe the experiences of district nurses using advanced homecare when nursing patients with palliative care at home. Five district nurses with experience of advanced homecare were interviewed and in analyses a qualitative content analysis was used. The analysis concluded a well-performed medical service executed by district nurses with high knowledge in medicine and medical equipment working alone and independently involving great responsibility. In order to perform a good nursing experience of life and further education is essential as well as back up from a multi-professional team. The district nurse has to be available round the clock and is communicative, supporting, coordinating and making confidence. Higher knowledge and response from parties concerned will acknowledge the district nurse in her profession in this serious caring.       Avancerad sjukvård i hemmet är en organiserad specialiserad vårdform som utför kvalificerad omvårdnad dygnet runt. Vården bedrivs i samarbete med ett multiprofessionellt team med olika yrkesprofessioner. Avancerad sjukvård i hemmet består till största delen av palliativ vård, där målet är att öka patientens livskvalitet samt att förutse, kartlägga och lindra symtom. Syftet var att beskriva distriktssköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter som får avancerad sjukvård i hemmet med palliativ inriktning. Intervjuer genomfördes med fem distriktssköterskor med erfarenhet av avancerad sjukvård i hemmet och i analysen användes en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultatet visade på erfarenheter av en välfungerande vård med ett självständigt, ansvarfullt ensamarbete, som kräver goda kunskaper i medicinteknisk omvårdnad. För att utföra ett bra arbete behövs teamsamarbete, handledning, debriefing, arbetslivserfarenhet och fortbildning. Distriktssköterskorna är anträffbara dygnet runt, de har en emotionell, kommunikativ, stödjande, trygghetsskapande och samordnande funktion. Ökad kunskap och förståelse kan leda till bättre insikt i ämnet och bekräfta distriktssköterskan i hennes profession.
