Les Kel Rela : historique et essai d'analyse du groupe de commandement des Kel Ahaggar

The history of the Kel Rela, a commanding group of the Kel Ahaggar, is analyzed in this article, as well as the nature of their matrimonial alliances, as seen through their genealogies since the founding ancestor of the matrilineage, Kella. Their rise to power followed the expulsion, in the Tassili n'Ajjer, of a religious lineage of foreign origin (the Imenânes) who held sway over the Ajjer and the Ahaggar until the middle of the XVIIth. century. In order to maintain its muslim religious descent and simultaneously control relations of production, the Imenânes was organized, if not in terms of double unilinear descent, at least of patrilinear descent. A rapid survey of the matrimonial alliances among the Kel Rela clearly reveals a strategy that tends to absorb the offsprings of patrilineal as well as matrilineal unions with outsiders. The Kel Rela thus form a chiefly uterine pine of descendants within a group of affiliation that has a complex but highly flexible and perfectible system of distribution of economic ressources. The supreme chief or amenukal, whose role is to ensure that the traditional rules are respected, mays thus manipulate them at will to maintain the equilibrium as well as the political and economic cohesion of his own group.
L'histoire des Kel Rela, groupe de commandement des Kel Ahaggar est analysée ici, ainsi que la nature de leurs alliances matrimoniales dans leurs généalogies, depuis leur ancêtre héritier du pouvoir : Kella. Leur prise de pouvoir est consécutive à l'expulsion, au Tassili n'Ajjer, d'un lignage de religieux d'origine étrangère (les Imenânes) qui commandait l'Ajjer et l' Ahaggar jusqu'à la moitié du XVIIe siècle. Pour garder leur filiation religieuse musulmane et contrôler en même temps les rapports de production, les Imenânes devaient avoir une structure sinon à double filiation unilinear re, tout au moins patrilinéaire. L'examen rapide des alliances matrimoniales des Kel Rela fait apparaître une stratégie absorbant tout aussi bien les produits des unions avec des étrangers en patrilinéarité qu'en matrilinéarité. On a ainsi une lignée d'utérins à commandement dans un groupe d'affiliation avec une répartition complexe, mais très souple et perfectible, des revenus économiques. Le chef suprême ou amenukal qui est chargé de faire respecter les règles traditionnelles, a toute liberté de les accommoder pour maintenir l'équilibre et la cohésion économique et politique de son groupe de fonction.
