Although, in Brazil, women represent about half of people with disabilities, there is a lack of data on assistance and specific needs of this population in the reproductive phase, making it difficult do formulate public policies. The present study aimed to investigate the particularities of pregnancy-puerperal cycle of women with disabilities. Narratives were collected from six women with disabilities living in Santos, São Vicente and Praia Grande. From the results, it was possible to identify both positive and negative experiences in the delivery and postpartum care of these women, related to the type of assistance they received. The research demonstrated the need for more studies on this topic and brings important contributions to the areas of Rehabilitation and Women´s Health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aunque, en Brasil, las mujeres representan cerca de la mitad de las personas con discapacidad, faltan dados sobre la asistencia y las necesidades específicas de esta población en la fase reproductiva, lo que dificulta la formulación de políticas públicas. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo investigar las particularidades del ciclo embarazo-puerperio de mujeres con discapacidad. Se recogieron relatos de seis mujeres con discapacidad que viven en Santos, São Vicente y Praia Grande. A partir de los resultados, fue posible identificar experiencias tanto positivas como negativas en la atención del parto y puerperio de estas mujeres, vinculadas al tipo de acogida que recibieron. La investigación demostró la necesidad de más estudios sobre este tema y trae importantes contribuciones para las áreas de Rehabilitación y Salud de la Mujer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Embora, no Brasil, as mulheres representem cerca da metade das pessoas com deficiência, faltam dados sobre assistência e necessidades específicas dessa população em fase reprodutiva, dificultando a formulação de políticas públicas. O presente estudo teve por objetivo investigar as particularidades do ciclo gravídico-puerperal de mulheres com deficiência. Foram colhidas narrativas de seis mulheres com deficiência visual e física, moradoras de Santos, São Vicente e Praia Grande. A partir dos resultados, foi possível identificar experiências tanto positivas quanto negativas na assistência ao parto e pós-parto dessas mulheres, ligadas ao tipo de acolhimento que receberam.
