Abstract: Physical representations of data may function as educational tools for people with visual impairments. With 3D printing technologies becoming more available, we propose a study to evaluate the rotational performance of 3D printing in braille production. We propose to evaluate the impact on the reading performance of braille printed at different angles from the base plate (0, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 degrees) by measuring reading speed and asking participants to provide a rating of comfort and discernment. To ensure the safety of participants and provide a setting for qualitative feedback, we propose a two-part experiment. Their biggest difference being sanded and unsanded conditions. ...
