    • Abstract:
MedUNAB 2007; 10:38-49]. ; A documentary review was carried out on research published between 1995 and 2005, aimed at measuring characteristics of sexual abuse, taking as reference the categories: family factors, sociodemographic factors & THORN; cos, characteristics of sexual abuse, parents 'behavior and mothers' history. . A total sample of 8,187 people of different ages assessed in 16 studies was analyzed. There was an increase in the number of publications in the last three years (37%), finding the United States as the country with the most publications related to the variables included (69%). The mean age of sexual abuse was 7.9 for a minimum value of 4.9 and a maximum of 11.5; the period of duration in years was 4.28 and the percentage of abuse was between 10.4% and 29.4% with a mean of 20.14% in investigations that carried out population studies. Regarding the perpetrator-victim link, it was found that 62.16% of the reported cases, the perpetrator was a family member; of these, 30.27% was the biological father. It is concluded that sexual abuse is not a problem that obeys a single cause nor does it possess a single characteristic in its manifestations. The variables studied that were most associated with sexual abuse were: 1 Chaotic family structure; where there are difficulties in interpersonal relationships, 2. Presence of violence or marital conflict, 3. Behaviors of parents inclined towards alcohol or drug abuse and in less presence 4. History of sexual abuse in mothers of minors victims of abuse. No significant associations were found in the sociodemographic variables such as socio-economic stratum, educational level of the parents, type of home or the presence of unemployment of one of the parents.
