Request permission to use participating MAKTABA libraries beyond normal staffed opening hours.
How the service works
Library 24/7 is a physical-library access service for approved members. It is separate from using the website or Digital Library. An Online account, borrowing membership and after-hours access permission are different: signing in does not grant permission to enter a library after hours.
The published service documents describe a personal access card and use during weekends and public holidays. Confirm the current access method and permitted times with the participating library before your visit; the service name is not a promise that every branch is open at every hour.
Who can apply?
The published User Guide specifies MAKTABA membership and a minimum age of 18. A separate service permission is required. Ask MAKTABA to confirm current eligibility and participating branches before applying.
What you need
The published request form lists a personal photo, your MAKTABA membership card, a copy of a valid Emirates ID, and your agreement and signature on the User Guide.
The current online request has upload fields for the User Guide, request form, Emirates ID and personal photo. Prepare the signed guide and completed request form before opening it. For help with the documents, contact MAKTABA.
How to request access
- Check current eligibility, participating-library availability and access arrangements with MAKTABA.
- Read the User Guide and complete the service-card request form below.
- Provide the requested information, documents and signatures.
- Open the existing access-request form and follow its upload steps.
- Wait for MAKTABA to confirm your permission and access arrangements before using the service.
Submitting a request does not itself grant entry.
What can I use?
The published guide describes self-service borrowing and returns, reading and learning spaces, Wi-Fi and public computers. It also lists the public hall, individual study rooms, vending facilities, toilets and prayer rooms.
These are descriptions in the service guide, not confirmation of facilities at every branch today. Check which spaces, equipment and services your permission covers. Borrowing remains subject to your membership and the library’s circulation rules.
What is not available?
The published guide excludes the Children’s section and includes an after-hours restriction on accompanying children. Confirm the current arrangements with MAKTABA before planning a visit with children.
Using Library 24/7 responsibly
Access is personal to the approved cardholder. Do not share the access card. Follow the service instructions, use self-service equipment appropriately, respect other users and take care of library materials and facilities.

Availability may vary by library. Contact MAKTABA to confirm participating branches, current after-hours periods and access arrangements before applying. Use the library directory for branch contacts and normal opening hours; those hours do not confirm after-hours permission.
Supporting documents
Both official PDFs contain English and Arabic. Their branch details and operating arrangements should be checked with MAKTABA before you rely on them.
